Ardtornish House, with lawns.

Lochaline [or Kinlochaline] Castle from the track across the loch.

Looking north across the loch, near its mouth,  from the track.

Looking back to the head of the loch from just short of its mouth. Note the low cliff on the right which is limestone, the presence of which accounts for Lochaline’s relative fertility. I little further on you will see where it has been quarried on the beach.

The track rounds the headland just before Ardtornish castle comes into view.

A diving boat, with Ardtornish castle in the distance, taken from the Lochaline side of the loch.

The cliffs, where sea eagles often nest, Ardtornish point.

From Acharacle Hotel looking  north across Loch Shiel.

Part of the same view earlier in the day.

Feral sheep thinking of contesting the path. A second later she jumped down the mini cliff as nimble as any goat.

Salen inlet looking out towards Loch Sunnart.
